HOW RS SOUTH AFRICA IS HELPING TRANSFORM LIVES THROUGH EDUCATION

Through its partnership with the Bokamoso Education Trust, RS South Africa is investing in the next generation by providing long-term educational support that empowers young people to reach their full potential

Education remains one of the most powerful drivers of social and economic development. By investing in young people today, businesses can help create skilled, confident leaders who will contribute to stronger communities and a more prosperous South Africa tomorrow.

This belief lies at the heart of RS South Africa’s partnership with the Bokamoso Education Trust, supported through the Inqolobane Investment Trust. More than simply opening doors to education, the partnership is about what becomes possible when young people are given the opportunity, support and resources to realise their potential.

Since partnering in 2024, with the relationship strengthening further in 2025 and continuing into 2026, RS South Africa has sponsored the education of four learners, providing ongoing support throughout their educational journeys, from primary school through to university.

A partnership with lasting impact

Unlike once-off interventions, long-term educational support enables learners to build confidence, develop their talents and pursue their ambitions with greater certainty. It also ensures that they receive the broader care and encouragement needed to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

“At RS South Africa, we believe that investing in education is one of the most meaningful ways to create sustainable change,” comments Brian Andrew, Managing Director of RS South Africa. “Our partnership with the Bokamoso Education Trust reflects our commitment to developing future talent and creating opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom. By supporting these learners over the long term, we are helping to build brighter futures for individuals, their families and ultimately our country.”

For Bokamoso Education Trust, partnerships such as this are fundamental to its mission of providing quality education and holistic support to young people. “Long-term partnerships are invaluable because they provide children with consistent support throughout their educational journey,” says Megan Downie, Operations Manager at Bokamoso Education Trust.

“This kind of investment goes beyond school fees, ensuring learners receive the holistic care, opportunities and encouragement they need to reach their full potential and confidently prepare for life beyond school,” says Downie.

Every learner has a unique story

The four learners currently supported through RS South Africa’s sponsorship are each progressing in different ways, demonstrating how personalised support can unlock individual potential.

Samkelo has transitioned to a smaller classroom environment better suited to her learning needs and is making excellent progress. Ayabonga has settled into high school and is thriving, while Zipporah continues to excel, particularly in sport. Wandile remains academically strong and is working steadily towards her goal of attending university.

“The partnership has been truly life-changing, opening doors, creating opportunities and empowering our girls to dream bigger than they ever thought possible,” says Downie. “Together, we are investing in futures that will have a ripple effect for generations to come.”

From one child to a growing movement

The Bokamoso Education Trust began with a simple act of generosity. In 2008, seven young professionals came together to help fund the education of a domestic worker’s son after recognising his mother’s determination to provide him with the best possible future.

What started as a monthly contribution of just R72 from each supporter has grown into an organisation that now provides financial support to more than 100 children, demonstrating the transformative impact that collective action and sustained investment can have.

Building a brighter future together

For RS South Africa, the partnership reflects a broader commitment to supporting initiatives that create lasting value for communities while helping develop South Africa’s future workforce.

“Creating a sustainable future requires more than investing in technology and industry; it requires investing in people,” concludes Andrew. “We are proud to partner with Bokamoso Education Trust to help remove barriers to education and enable young people to realise their potential. These are the kinds of partnerships that create meaningful, long-term impact.”

As South Africa continues to develop the skills needed for future economic growth, partnerships between business and organisations such as the Bokamoso Education Trust demonstrate how collaboration can help unlock opportunity, one learner at a time.
