Superlift’s truck mounted lift puts a 16-foot scissor lift on the mine’s own pickup

In a mine, the work is never where the lift is. Superlift South Inc. has introduced its UPLIFT Heavy Duty Truck Mounted Lift for the mining industry: a full-featured scissor lift mounted on the bed of a Toyota Land Cruiser — the truck the mines already run — and built to mount on the larger mine pickups in that class.

It combines the mobility of a Toyota work truck with the strength and precision of a full-featured scissor lift — no trailer, no towing. Drive to the work, set the outriggers, and put a worker 16 feet up with 1,700 lb of platform capacity.

Setup takes minutes, not a transport crew. Hydraulic outriggers deploy in 120 seconds and set a secure base before lift activation. The scissor mechanism, powered by singleand double-acting cylinders, raises a full load in 59 seconds and lowers without load in 49, with smooth inching operation from a push-button control station. The 65 by 57 inch platform sits behind safety rails and kick plates with a swing-out safety door, and the unit stows just 4½ inches high on the truck bed — 91¼ inches at full extension, on 86¾ inches of travel. The frame is durable mild steel, with cable rollers and an integrated fixed access ladder.

Power is a 12-volt battery system with a 2 kW hydraulic powerpack and a 1 HP, 12 VDC motor, with an emergency stop, pilot lamp, battery level indicator and adjustable lowering time. The work it is built for starts underground: mining and tunnel access, high-reach vehicle maintenance, job site electrical and HVAC installation, industrial inspections and maintenance, and remote area field operations — tough mining, construction, utility and industrial jobs, in remote work environments and challenging job sites.

“A mine is a big place, and the work is spread all over it,” said Gerry Erwin, president of Superlift South Inc. “If your lift sits in a yard waiting on a trailer, your crew is standing around waiting too. This one lives on the truck. Drive it to the heading, set the outriggers, and in about a minute you’re 16 feet up — with room on the platform for the worker, the tools and the parts. Simple, heavy-built, and it goes where the work is. That is the whole idea.”

The lift can be provided with or without the Toyota Land Cruiser — complete on the truck, ready to work, or on its own for mounting on a truck the mine already has. The UPLIFT Heavy Duty Truck Mounted Lift is at www.superlift.net, and Superlift engineers custom configurations to order.
